Jorn Baalhuis
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Jorn Baalhuis and I live in Oldenzaal. I first followed an IT training in the network. Unfortunately, after my studies, I couldn't find a job here and I temporarily worked as a forklift driver in a warehouse. However, I wanted to develop myself further and decided to go back to school.
I opted for a broad education in Mechatronics and found out that I really liked Electricity. I did my final internship at a company specialized in industrial equipment and stayed here for 1.5 years. Because I couldn't develop myself further in electrical drawing here, I ended up at Engineero.
Mariette sent me a message that Engineero was looking for EPlan Engineers and that was exactly what I was interested in. After a good conversation, they offered me the opportunity to develop into an Electrical Engineer.
Which course do you follow for your personal development?
In the first week I had a conversation with Marco Mentink. He introduced me to EPlan and explained how it is used. After registering for the multi-day course, I was able to physically follow the course, which was very pleasant. EPlan is a very large program for which you can follow multiple courses. I'm lucky enough to be working on a project where I use EPlan on a daily basis. The great thing about it is that I can practice a lot and gain experience faster. I hope to start a new project soon, where I can fully familiarize myself with EPlan. That, of course, is the challenge.
How does Engineero support you in your development?
Before you can start drawing in EPlan, you must first know certain components and whether they connect properly. That was new to me. I learned how to investigate this, calling companies to gather information. Only when you have that information can you get started. During my learning process I often work with Marco Mentink. As a senior he has a lot of knowledge of EPlan and is my example. It is nice to work with a Senior, because I learn quickly because of his knowledge. In 5 years I have the ambition to be just as good.
What does your future look like within Engineero?
What I like about Engineero is that they ask me what I want. They then support me in my development. Engineero meets my expectations in that regard. I could immediately start with EPLAN, as I was promised. That gives confidence in the company. They are there for you and it will not be delayed. Besides EPLAN I would like to develop myself further in programming (control technology). I am confident that I will be working at Engineero for a while yet.
