Gbit/s ethernet op een embedded systeem
1Gbit/s ethernet
At Engineero, we emphasize the continuous expansion of our knowledge and expertise. We encourage our engineers to develop themselves by taking on challenging knowledge projects.
Approach
Our Engineero engineers have intensively searched for solutions to integrate 1Gbit/s Ethernet. The goal? Not only to increase our internal knowledge, but also to show that we are ready for any customer request on designs with 1Gbit/s Ethernet.
Our engineeros researched various options, including microcontrollers, application processors and FPGA SoCs. They then purchased development boards for each option, including an STM application processor, an NXP microcontroller, and an Xilinx/AMD Zynq 7000 SoC.
Performance Testing
Each board underwent a thorough IP performance test with iPerf, measuring throughput over an Ethernet connection between the development board and a laptop. UDP and TCP tests were performed, with both the laptop and the board acting as client and server. CPU load was closely monitored to assess space for other applications.
Engineering knowledge
Our engineeros applied their expertise in Embedded C/C++, FPGA/SOC design, application processors, iPerf, and demonstrated their knowledge of Ethernet PHY + Mag Jack connectors.
