Smart Operating System
We hebben bijna overal een applicatie (app) voor. Van het regelen van verlichting, het openen van de auto tot aan even een Whatsappje sturen. De uitdaging bij iedere app is dat deze moet kunnen communiceren met en draaien op een bepaald type hardware - zoals een afstandsbediening of Iphone. Vanuit Engineero maakten we op basis van Linux een operating system die weet welke hardware beschikbaar is en hoe de app van de klant daarmee kan communiceren.
Dit technische vraagstuk kwam vanuit een organisatie die op projectbasis hightech (deel) oplossingen biedt in de vorm van hardware, FPGA en Embedded Software voor klantspecifieke producten. Deze specialistische kennis hebben bedrijven niet altijd zelf in huis. Het is juist die specialistische kennis die wordt gebundeld en ingezet om onder andere hardware te ontwikkelen waar applicaties van klanten op kunnen draaien.

Technical issue
A customer is developing a product range for building automation in office buildings and hotels. This ranges from controlling lighting and heating to the sun blinds. They develop their own application for this, but hardware is also required on which this app can run. It is important here that the software can communicate with the hardware so that the right things are controlled. What your application must be able to do is directly translated into what you need in the hardware.
Engineering expertise
Engineero was involved in this technical issue and we collaborated on the development of our own hardware. Basically we created our own printed circuit board with the necessary interfaces. Based on a custom board on which Embedded Linux runs, we have created an operating system that knows what hardware is present and how the Embedded C++ application can communicate with it. To complete the customer's product, the associated Embedded Software and a board support package (BSP) have also been developed.
