Development of integrated mission systems for naval ships
Multidisciplinary collaboration
Engineero is involved as a knowledge partner in the development of integrated mission systems for naval vessels. One of our Software Engineers is part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of system engineers, software engineers, test engineers, an architect, and a product owner.
“The great thing about this collaboration is that everyone has their own specialism,” says Erik. “You can focus entirely on your own discipline, but because we work so closely with other fields, you also learn from each other all the time. That cross-pollination makes the work varied and interesting.”
Within the team, there is plenty of room for consultation, knowledge sharing, and personal input. “We work according to the Scrum methodology, in short iterations in which we develop new functionalities and improve existing components. This keeps the pace high and ensures that the product is continuously improving.”

Technical challenge
As a Software Engineer, Erik is involved in the development and integration of software components within the mission system. The focus is on reliability, performance, and scalability. “We work with a high C++ standard and complex software architectures. The code must meet strict requirements because the system must function under all circumstances. That makes it technically challenging, but also very educational.”
The technologies and development methods used are state-of-the-art. Continuous integration, automated testing, and container technology are used to roll out new software versions quickly and reliably. “It's motivating to work in an environment where quality and innovation go hand in hand,” says Erik. “You're constantly improving and learning.”

Social relevance
What makes this project particularly meaningful for Erik is its social relevance. “It's special to work on technology that contributes to safety at sea and to the protection of people worldwide. You realize that the software you write could literally save lives in the future. That really gives the work a purpose.”
Erik also appreciates the culture within the project. “There is a high level of knowledge, but at the same time the atmosphere is collegial and open. Everyone is ready to help each other and share knowledge. That makes it a pleasure to go to work every day.”

Positive start at Engineero
Although Erik has not been working at Engineero for long, he quickly found his place. “My first impression is very good. Engineero offers a pleasant, informal working environment and communication is clear. I am given the trust and freedom to do my work my own way. That is extremely motivating.”
Through his role in this challenging project, Erik combines his passion for technology with his drive to contribute to something that really matters. “It's a perfect mix of technical complexity, teamwork, and social impact, exactly what I was looking for.”
